In celebration of this year’s Nelson Mandela Day, the Young Africa Leaders Initiative Lagos Network in partnership with National Commission for Refugees AMD Migrants and in partnership with Rise and Prisoner’s Right Advocacy Initiative held a Covid-19 outreach on the 18th of July, 2020 at the National Commission for Refugees and Migrants Headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Donations of 50 Relief material boxes were given to the Migrants.

150 face masks as donated by members of the network and the Lagos State Government SDG were also distributed among the Migrants.

Speaking to the YALI Lagos Network Coordinator Ruhamah Ifere, she said the donations were achieved with the partnership of RISE and PRAI and the Lagos State Government SDG(sustainable development goals)invest that also donated 600 facemasks to the YALI Lagos network to distribute to the Migrants and the citizens in its environ.

Ruhamah Ifere, added that the donation of the 600 face mask to Lagos yali network was made possible through the assistance of Ilori Julius( Immediate past coordinator of the Lagos Yali network.

She noted, that celebrating Nelson Mandela Day with Migrants was necessary, as they are people far away from their home country and alot of people don’t remember them at times like this, so it became a necessity for Yali Lagos network to visit these set of people in our country to remind them, that they are not alone at this point in time.

Ruhamah Ifere, said Africa Leaders are supposed to come together in unity to support and provide basic needs like foodstuffs and preventive materials for their citizens during this pandemic more than ever.

She also pointed that last year, the YALI Lagos Network also visited these people and the Internally displaced person camp and so this year, the network decided to visit the Migrants to commemorate the Late Africa Freedom Fighter Nelson Mandela Day, as part of yaliserves event.

Ruhamah concluded saying the beneficiaries were really appreciative of the various contribution of the Yali Lagos Network supports to them in the middle of Covid-19 Pandemic while assuring all that the network will not relent in her commitment to Humanitarian Services to Humanity.
