The 12th of August was first designated International Youth Day by the UN General Assembly in 1999 and serves as an annual celebration of the role of youth as essential partners in global economic development and an opportunity to dialogue on the challenges young people face around the world.
This year’s celebration is under the theme, “Transforming Education” – education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves. This theme is embedded in the UN’s Global Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The International Youth Day Town Hall Meeting will explore how governments, youth, and youth-focused organizations (such as YALI Alumni Chapter of Ghana and MWF Association of Ghana), as well as other stakeholders, are contributing to education that will cause it to become a transformational tool to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development globally.
This dialogue and online TV event is scheduled to host several activities whiles educating its patrons, participants, and viewers on best approaches to drive support for youth educational initiatives especially in Ghana.
