The Rector and management of the BlueCrest University College situated in Kokomlemle, Accra – Ghana on 30th August 2019 granted scores of scholarships to Ghanaian students from the Senior High School in a colorful awards ceremony at their premises.

The move is in line with the mandate of the University which is to contribute to education in Ghana by providing support to brilliant but needy students, and towards the fulfillment of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The Scholarship Award Scheme was made up of two categories, the Presidential Scholarship, and the National Competitive Examination (NCE) Scholarship.

The award ceremony was under the theme ‘Promoting education through Public-Private Partnership’. The awards ceremony was attended by high-level personalities from the education sector and partnering institutions. Some of the agencies and personalities present included the Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency and a member of the Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee of Parliament, Dr. Eric Opoku, the Headmistress of OLA Girls SHS, Madam Regina Coffie, Representative of HACSA, Ghana Code Club, Ghana Robotics Academy, iSpace Foundation, UNESCO, Developers in Vogue, President of Dream Oval, Mr Charles Kollo, Head of Sales, BlueCloud Networks, Sylvia Magnus-George, selected senior high schools from Greater Accra, Volta and Eastern Region and many more.

In the opening remarks by the Rector of the College, Dr. Anand Agrawal stated that Presidential and NCE Scholarship Schemes was an investment into the youth economy of Ghana primarily and Ghana as a whole. He also stated that the key objectives of the scheme are to promote ICT education for girls, recognize and equip brilliant students, and challenge the youth to create solutions for their communities.

The chairperson of the ceremony, Madam Regina Coffie stated her excitement about the opportunity to be part of the success story of BlueCrest University College. She encouraged the college to further expand the scholarship scheme to other neighboring colleges to foster universal and accessible education for all (i.e. Sustainable Development Goal 4).

The awards were presented to various winners in the NCE Scholarship session and Presidential Scholarship awards by the Rector, Dr. Agrawal, the Director of Outreach and Collaboration, Sujith Jayaprakash, the General Manager of YALI TV, Stephen Selasie Asuo, the Representative of HACSA, Ghana Code Club, Ghana Robotics Academy, iSpace Foundation, UNESCO etc.

The event attracted hundreds of parents, institutions, alumni of the College, partnering agencies, students of the BlueCrest University, senior high schools, and the media. The event was covered by Joy News and YALI TV as media partners.
